Senior Portraits In Charlottesville, VA
A little bit polished. A lot more you.
Senior photos should feel like you.
Not like a version of you who suddenly knows exactly how to pose, what to do with your hands, or how to look completely natural with a camera pointed at you.
You donβt need to know any of that. Thatβs my job.
Your job is simply to show up as yourself. Weβll walk around, talk, move, laugh, and make photographs that capture your personalityβnot just what you look like, but a little bit of who you are right now.
Because someday, thatβs the part youβll want to remember.
A little direction. Plenty of room to be yourself.
Iβll guide you through your session so you never have to wonder what youβre supposed to be doing. Iβll help with where to stand, what to do with your hands, and all those little things that can feel awkward when thereβs a camera pointed at you.
But Iβm also not going to spend an hour putting you into one perfect pose after another.
Weβll walk. Weβll talk. Weβll move around and try things. Iβll give you direction when you need it and leave room for the expressions, laughter, and little pieces of personality that happen on their own.
Want some classic senior portraits? Absolutely. But I also want to make photographs that feel relaxed, alive, and unmistakably you.

For the Seniorsβ¦
You don't have to be good at pictures.
You don't have to know how to pose. You don't have to know what to do with your hands. And you definitely don't have to become some polished, camera-ready version of yourself for an hour.
Come as you are.
Wear the clothes you actually feel good in. Bring the things that matter to you. Tell me what you loveβand what would make you cringe. We'll figure out the rest together.
You can be quiet. You can be goofy. You can bring your guitar, your skateboard, your favorite book, your dog, or absolutely nothing at all.
This isn't about creating a different version of you.
It's about making really good photographs of the one who's already here.
And for the parents...
Somehow, the kid you've been photographing since missing teeth, scraped knees, and first days of school is a senior.
Senior photographs mark a big year, but I think they're really about something simpler: remembering who your kid is right now.
The smile you recognize immediately. The way they laugh. The confidence that's beginning to show up. The pieces of the kid they've always been mixed with glimpses of the adult they're becoming.
We'll make the photograph you'll want to frame.
But we'll make the ones that feel like them, too.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Start with something that feels like you. If you never wear dresses, you don't need to wear one for senior pictures. If you live in your favorite pair of jeans, bring them. Clothes that fit well, feel comfortable, and let you move are usually the best place to start.
Once you're booked, I'm happy to help you think through outfits and how they'll work with the location we've chosen.
-
Absolutely. A second outfit is a great way to add some variety to your gallery. With a 60-minute session, I usually recommend keeping it to one outfit change so we still have plenty of time for photographs.
-
We'll choose a Charlottesville-area or Central Virginia location together based on what feels most like you. Maybe that's somewhere green and natural, an urban setting with interesting architecture, or a place that already means something to you.
If you have no idea what you want, that's completely fine. I'll help.
-
Most people tell me some version of this.
You don't need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do. I'll give you direction throughout the session, and we'll keep moving and talking so you aren't standing there wondering where your hands are supposed to go.
-
Of course. A parent, sibling, or friend is welcome to come along if having them there will help you feel more comfortable.
And parents: if you're coming, don't be surprised if I ask you to jump into the frame for a photograph or two.
-
Please do.
Senior photographs don't have to be just you standing in a pretty location. If there's something that's been a big part of your life, let's find a way to include it that feels natural.
Just let me know beforehandβespecially if we're bringing along a pet or something that may affect our choice of location.

Your finished gallery will be delivered within 2β4 weeks of your session. You'll receive an online gallery where you can download, share, and print your professionally edited photographs.
